Group focus
The group focuses on heterogeneous materials from two independent views:
- First, we characterize heterogeneous materials (i.e., porous materials, composite materials, catalysts) and determine the 3D microstructure, followed by revealing the relations between the microstructure and mass transport properties such as permeability and diffusivity. These transport parameters are predicted from the 3D microstructure, and the prediction is validated using independent macroscopic measurements in Wicke-Kallenbach diffusion and quasi-stationary permeation cell.
- Second, we focus on the preparation, characterization, and application of novel 2D materials as catalyst support for single metal atoms (Single‑atom Catalysis, SAC) and metal nanoparticles. We aim to reveal the relation between heterogeneous catalyst structure and catalytic activity using both independent ex-situ and in-situ/operando characterization methods.
